About Cookie Redding

Practicing Artist and Designer| Professor of Art and Design | Podcast Host

I’m Cookie Redding, an artist and professor with over 20 years of experience in the art world. My work spans mixed media, abstract landscapes, and typography, focusing on the relationship between materials and creativity. I also specialize in print design and branding/identity, blending art with practical design to create work that connects to the viewer on multiple levels.

From 2022-2024, I was a PSU Fellow, where I explore virtual reality for the classroom, expanding the boundaries of art education. In addition, I serve as an Adobe Campus Leader, using my experience to shape the future of design education. My work has been showcased in international exhibitions, reflecting my ongoing passion for pushing creative limits.

Artistic Approach

At the core of my practice, I believe that art’s true power lies in its ability to connect people. Through my mixed media work, I strive to create pieces that invite viewers to engage deeply, encouraging them to see the world with fresh eyes. My artistic philosophy centers around intuitive exploration. I let emotions and materials guide the process, often discovering new directions through experimentation with natural pigments and other unconventional materials.

By combining different mediums, I aim to create artwork that is visually engaging and emotionally resonant. Every piece is an opportunity to explore how materials transform and interact on the canvas, making each work a journey in itself. This intuitive, experimental process ensures my work remains fresh, dynamic, and evolving.

Creative Ventures

In addition to my studio work, I host the Art Life Plan podcast, where I explore the intersection of art and life. The podcast covers topics such as the creative process, the challenges artists face, and practical advice for navigating the art world. It’s a resource for artists of all levels who are looking for inspiration and insight on balancing creativity with everyday life.

I also run an Etsy shop, where I sell my artwork, focusing on mixed media pieces and ceramics that reflect my love for experimentation. You can visit my shop at LikeSilove on Etsy.

I’m constantly seeking out new materials to expand my creative practice and share that curiosity with others.
